G’day 28th Jan 2019

As you can see from the date in the box above…I have been meaning to get to this for a while now.  Life has been a challenge but apparently, despite what is happening in your life, the sun comes up day after day and the months roll on. So here we are, two and a half years after I first started this site; I am ready to have a chat.

My sister and I grew up with a lot of strong female role models around us.  There were a few men too of course and we had 2 brothers, but it was the women in our family that had more influence on who I am today as a mother, grandmother, sister and friend than any of the men.  Women in my family shared similar experiences with others around the world who went through the Great Depression, war, hardship…but also joy, children, work, family, friends, education and love.

My mother’s side of the family grew up in the country and my father’s side spent most of their lives in the city so I had the good fortune of having a balanced influence from the time I was born in ’56.  I may not be a 20 something…or even a 40 something…but I am a woman with a mind that is eager to learn and to share what little I know.

I love a good laugh, often have a good cry, try to make informed decisions and choices and learn from my (many) mistakes…and I have made some doosies over the years.  Being an older Australian I may use words that are everyday language to me but sound foreign to you…so, if you do not know a term I use please drop me a line and ask what on earth I am talking about.

As I write this, my darling mother is 6 hours away in palliative care and my sister is visiting her daily.  I work 5 days a week but go down to visit as many weekends a month as I can. My grandmothers passed away many years ago now…but it’s funny, it seems like yesterday that we were talking and laughing…or getting into trouble for something.  I find myself quoting them almost  daily  and when something gets my attention I find myself thinking…now, Nan would have….
